Luxury Watches: Rolex

Loans Against Rolex Watches

Borrow £61,000 to £2,000,000 against a Rolex or a Rolex collection, including Daytona, Submariner, GMT-Master II, Day-Date and important vintage references, exclusively for certified high-net-worth individuals.

Who this is for

Liquidity against the Rolex you already own

SAFE Lending Co provides direct loans against Rolex watches across the UK: Daytona, Submariner, GMT-Master II, Day-Date and important vintage references. Loans start at £61,000 and scale to £2,000,000, with terms of 3 to 12 months and no early repayment fees after the initial 3-month period. A single steel sports Rolex usually forms part of a collection to reach that minimum; higher-value precious- metal and vintage references can qualify on their own.

Our clients are collectors and asset-rich individuals who want to release liquidity without selling: to bridge a property transaction, settle a tax bill, or act on an opportunity. The watch stays in our allocated, insured vault. You retain ownership and any market upside, which matters for discontinued steel sports models and vintage pieces that continue to appreciate.

Borrowing against another maker, or a mixed collection? See our main luxury watches lending page for Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Cartier and the independents.

Rolex references we lend against

Modern steel sports models, precious-metal Day-Dates, Paul Newman Daytonas and vintage GMT-Masters. Each watch valued on its exact reference: condition, originality and completeness of set first.

Cosmograph Daytona

Steel 116500LN and 126500LN, precious-metal and Rainbow references, Le Mans, and discontinued steel Daytonas (116520, 116519). Paul Newman and pre-Daytona vintage valued on dial, originality and provenance.

Submariner and Sea-Dweller

Modern Submariner 124060 and 126610LN/LV, two-tone and gold references, plus Sea-Dweller and Deepsea. Vintage 5513, 5512, 1680 and ‘red’ Submariners assessed on dial, insert and case condition.

GMT-Master II

‘Pepsi’, ‘Batman’ and ‘Sprite’ references in steel, Rolesor and white/yellow gold (126710BLRO, 126710BLNR, 126711, 126719BLRO). Vintage GMT-Master 1675 and 16750 valued on bezel and dial originality.

Day-Date and Datejust

Day-Date 36 and 40 in yellow, white and Everose gold and platinum, including diamond and stone-set dials. Datejust references in steel, Rolesor and gold. Factory gem-setting and rare dials supported by documentation.

Sky-Dweller, Yacht-Master and Explorer

Sky-Dweller in steel and precious metals, Yacht-Master and Yacht-Master II, Explorer and Explorer II. Modern, discontinued and full-set examples all within scope.

Vintage and collectible Rolex

Paul Newman Daytonas (6239, 6241, 6263, 6265), ‘Pepsi’ GMT 1675, ‘double red’ Sea-Dweller, and exotic-dial references. Originality of dial, hands and bezel, plus auction-house or known-collection provenance, drive value.

Valuation

How your Rolex is valued

Every valuation starts with the exact reference and year, then condition, completeness of set and service history, benchmarked against live Chrono24, WatchCharts and auction data so the figure reflects the real market.

  • Reference, year and condition

Valuation starts with the exact reference and production year. Reference matters more than model, and a 116610LN and a 124060 trade at different levels. Unpolished cases with sharp lugs, original bezels and unrefinished dials command a clear premium.

  • Full set: box, papers and service history

An original box, warranty card or papers, hang tags and Rolex Service Centre history typically add 10 to 30 per cent over a head-only watch, and matter even more for discontinued steel sports models and vintage references.

  • Live market reference

We benchmark every Rolex against current Chrono24 and WatchCharts data and recent auction results from Phillips, Christie’s and Sotheby’s. You see the comparable sales behind your valuation, not a static figure from a price guide.

Storage

How your Rolex is stored

For the duration of the loan, your watch sits in an allocated, humidity-controlled, insured vault under your name, kept on a monitored winder where appropriate, never pooled, and inspectable on request.

  • Allocated, fully insured vault

Your Rolex is stored under your name in a humidity-controlled vault, fully insured to agreed value. Allocated means your specific watch is set aside, never pooled with other clients’ pieces or used for any other purpose.

  • Mechanical care during storage

Automatic Rolex movements are placed on monitored winders where appropriate, and the crystal, bezel and bracelet are protected from contact for the duration of the loan.

  • Insured collection and discreet handling

Door-to-door insured collection across the UK by trained handlers, with chain-of-custody documentation. Our team is insured to handle assets up to £5,000,000 in value, and you may inspect your watch with 48–72 hours’ notice.

Pawn or sell?

Selling ends your position. Pawning keeps you in the watch.

Selling a Rolex (to a dealer or at auction) ends your ownership and rarely makes sense when the need is short-term liquidity. A loan secured against the same watch gives you the cash you need and leaves both ownership and any future appreciation in your hands, which matters for discontinued and vintage references.

  • Selling a Rolex to a dealer commonly realises 20–30 per cent below open market value, to leave room for resale margin.

  • Auction sale costs the seller commission, and the buyer’s premium layered on top suppresses the hammer price you achieve.

  • Steel sports models and discontinued references can appreciate. A loan keeps you in the watch and preserves that upside.

  • A loan secured against your Rolex is not a disposal. You retain ownership and redeem the exact watch at the end of the term.

Figures are indicative market norms, not specific to any individual sale. Speak to a qualified tax adviser for guidance on the tax treatment of selling a watch in your circumstances.

Rolex Lending: Common Questions

Answers to the questions we hear most often from clients borrowing against a Rolex or a Rolex collection.

Daytona, Submariner, Sea-Dweller, GMT-Master II, Day-Date, Datejust, Sky-Dweller, Yacht-Master and Explorer references, in steel, Rolesor, precious metals and gem-set, plus important vintage Rolex. Minimum total value £61,000, typically a collection or a higher-value single reference.

Loans run from £61,000 to £2,000,000, generally between 40 and 70 per cent of the watch’s open market value. The figure depends on the exact reference, condition, completeness of set and current market data. A single steel sports Rolex may need to be part of a collection to reach the £61,000 minimum.

No. We lend against head-only Rolex watches. However, a full set with original box, papers, hang tags and service records typically supports a higher valuation, often by 10 to 30 per cent, and improves liquidity for discontinued and vintage references.

Yes. Paul Newman Daytonas, ‘Pepsi’ GMT 1675, vintage Submariners (5513, 1680) and exotic-dial references are within scope. Originality of dial, hands, bezel and case is decisive for vintage, and provenance from an established auction house or known collection supports the valuation.

Yes, materially. An unpolished case with sharp lugs and original finishing typically commands a premium of 15 to 30 per cent over a refinished example, particularly for discontinued and vintage references. We assess this carefully and discuss the impact during valuation.

By exact reference number, production year, condition (case, dial, movement), completeness of set and service history, benchmarked against current Chrono24 and WatchCharts data and recent auction results at Phillips, Christie’s and Sotheby’s. You see the comparable sales used.

In an allocated, humidity-controlled, fully insured vault under your name, not pooled with other watches. Automatic movements are placed on monitored winders where appropriate. You may inspect the watch with 48–72 hours’ notice, with chain-of-custody documentation available.

Yes. After the minimum 3-month term you can redeem your watch at any time with no early repayment fees or exit charges. Repay the outstanding balance and accrued interest and we arrange insured return or collection in person.

Provided we have the reference, photographs and proof of ownership, we can typically authenticate, value and fund a Rolex loan within 3 to 10 working days. High-value vintage references may need a little additional verification time.
